House fire causes $60,000 in damage in Lombard

No injuries were reported in a fire that did an estimated $60,000 in damage early Monday morning and left a Lombard house uninhabitable, authorities said Monday.

Firefighters responded about 4:20 a.m. to the 500 block of North Lombard Road. The fire was brought under control within 17 minutes, but crews remained on the scene to ventilate smoke and perform salvage operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit. Lombard firefighters were assisted by the Elmhurst and Villa Park fire departments and the Addison and York Center fire protection districts.
