Glen Ellyn bank robbed

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Glen Ellyn bank Thursday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m., a man entered First American Bank, 830 Roosevelt Road, and gave a teller a note announcing the robbery, officials said.

"He implied he had a weapon, but none was observed," FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates, adding that the man fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as being between 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing shorts, a long sleeved T-shirt and a floppy camouflaged hat, Yates said.

Late Thursday afternoon, investigators were conducting interviews of the roughly dozen witnesses, officials said.

Glen Ellyn Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said it was too early to determine whether the robbery was linked to the Aug. 5 bank robbery in Villa Park at Inland Bank, 305 W. St. Charles Road.

The suspect in the Villa Park robbery was described as being 6-feet-tall and in his mid-20s with a thin to medium build. He was wearing a baseball cap and a white, long sleeved T-shirt, officials said last week.

"It's something that we're going to look at, the FBI's going to look at, and investigate any similarities to any recent crimes," Holmer said.

If anyone has information about either heist, they're encouraged to call Glen Ellyn detectives at (630) 469-1187.
