Schaumburg police receive 10th national accreditation

The Schaumburg Police Department recently was awarded its 10th national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) for continuing to meet the highest professional standards of public safety.

The department initially was accredited in 1986, and was the first in Illinois to earn the distinction.

"With law enforcement conduct continuing to dominate conversations in the news, we're proud that the Schaumburg Police Department continues to maintain management excellence and the department is meeting the highest standards for professionalism in the country," Police Chief Bill Wolf said. "This recognition is a testament to the quality services that our employees provide the community every day."

The purpose of CALEA's accreditation programs is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a body of standards covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives, establishing and administering an accreditation process, and recognizing professional excellence.
