Man charged with shooting into Aurora home occupied by 9 people in 2019

A 26-year-old Aurora man has been arrested and charged with shooting into an Aurora home with nine people inside in March 2019.

The charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied building and other felonies were filed last week against Noel R. Deluna, of the 700 block of South Spencer Street, according to Kane County court records.

Deluna has been held at the Kane County jail since December 2019 on a charge of aggravated battery to a police officer. He was free on bail from a May 2019 fleeing and eluding case when he was arrested in December, court records show.

In the March 18, 2019, incident, Deluna is accused of shooting into a residence while six adults and three juveniles were inside, court records show. The residence was on the 600 block of Pierce Street on the city's near east side, court records show.

Aurora police spokesman Paris Lewbel could not be reached for additional information this week.

Deluna was sentenced to eight years in prison after guilty pleas in a 2015 aggravated battery to a police officer charge and a 2016 felony of possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification card, according to court and prison records.

Under state law, he had his sentence cut in half for good behavior and was on parole.

Deluna is held at the Kane County jail on $445,000 bail, meaning he must post $44,500 in order to be released while the latest cases are pending. He is next due in court June 12.

He faces a sentence ranging from four to 15 years in prison if convicted of the most severe charge in the March 2019 shooting case. Deluna faces top sentences of three and seven years in prison, respectively, if convicted in the May 2019 fleeing and eluding case and the aggravated battery to police officer case from December 2019.
