Gurnee police: Juvenile involved in shooting evaded capture

Gurnee police are searching for one of two juveniles involved in a shooting last week.

No one was injured in the May 21 shooting, according to the news release provided Thursday by Detective Shawn Gaylor.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a 911 caller reported that shots had been fired near the intersection of Magnolia and Grand avenues.

Officers spotted two juveniles matching the description provided by the caller. As the officers took one of the juveniles into custody, the other one ran and has not been found.

Investigators have determined the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two juveniles and two other people. Gaylor said the shooting was an isolated incident and there appears to be no threat to the public.

The suspect in custody is being charged through the juvenile court system.

Gaylor said the investigation is ongoing.
