Waste, recycling pick up continues in Lake County

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County says the waste industry is operating at nearly full capacity and is able to provide regular collections for garbage and recyclables.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency says it is in daily contact with haulers that service Lake County residents. The plan is to begin landscape services April 1 as scheduled in most towns, but that - as well as recycling service - could change.

One impact throughout Lake County is that bulky or large items left outside the garbage container will no longer be collected unless the material is placed in a rigid container or plastic bag. Many haulers who provide curbside collection of electronics will be stopping this service as well, although SWALCO has three open sites for that purpose.

Visit swalco.org or the websites of your community and your waste hauler for more information.
