'American Idol' alums raise funds for Season of Concern

"American Idol" alums Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, whose new tuner "Hit Her with the Skates" at Chicago's Royal George Theatre was suspended last week in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will perform as part of a livestream fundraiser.

Joseph Jefferson Award winners Angela Ingersoll, Paul-Jordan Jansen, Donica Lynn and Lorenzo Rush Jr. are among the artists also scheduled to appear during the livestream fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19.

The fundraiser has been organized by The Beautiful City Project, a musical theater ensemble that helps raise funds for local charitable organizations. The event will be simulcast on the group's Facebook and Instagram accounts.

There's no charge, but viewers can access a link on the feed to make a donation to Season of Concern Chicago. Season of Concern helps provide short-term emergency financial assistance to local theater artists unable to work due to illness or injury.

Each month, Beautiful City hosts cabaret performances that benefit a specific organization.
