South Elgin man charged with breaking into Bartlett business

Bartlett police Friday arrested a 20-year-old South Elgin man. whom they already were looking for as a missing person, after he broke into a business and fell asleep in its basement, authorities said.

Steven G. Schock is charged with two misdemeanors for criminal damage to property and criminal damage to real property, police said.

Bartlett officers began searching for Schock about 6:30 a.m. Oct. 18, after he was reported missing. He was last seen walking west on North Avenue after leaving a single-family home on the 300 block of West North Avenue.

About 10 a.m., officers responded to a business on the 100 block of South Hickory Avenue, whose owner had discovered a broken window and Schock inside, police said.

Schock released on a $100 bond with a court date of Nov. 19 in Rolling Meadows.
