Racers get down and dirty in Grayslake to fight MS

About 2,500 racers crawled, slid and ran through an obstacle course filled with mud during the 7th annual MuckFest MS Saturday in Grayslake.

The 5K event at Lake County Fairgrounds, which raises money for multiple sclerosis research, included 18 obstacles full of mud and water. The race is not timed - it's up to racers to come together and complete it, overcoming obstacles that are reminders of what people with multiple sclerosis face every day.

The event was expected to raise more than $300,000, officials said.
