Schaumburg's MT Barrels lives on during weekends
For any longtime patrons who haven't figured it out already, MT Barrels Sports Bar & Entertainment in Schaumburg has remained open on weekends despite a Facebook post and sign on its front door last September that seemed to leave little doubt that it was shutting down.
Schaumburg Economic Development Director Matt Frank voiced disappointment at the time, saying the venue and its predecessor, Chicago City Limits, as the go-to places for live music in the area for many years.
But village inspectors this week confirmed that MT Barrels, 1712 W. Wise Road, is still operating on the weekends after all, and its licenses are paid up and active.
Frank said operating only on weekends is a not uncommon way for entertainment venues to cut costs and stay viable.
