No injuries reported in Naperville fire

No injuries were reported in a kitchen fire early Wednesday morning in Naperville.

According to officials, Naperville firefighters responded to a fire alarm at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of North Naperville Road. Ten pieces of equipment and 24 firefighters arrived on the scene as occupants of the building were exiting.

The fire, discovered in a kitchen trash can, was contained by an overhead sprinkler until firefighters arrived. According to officials, the fire was extinguished by 1:52 a.m.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. The structure has been deemed habitable. But the kitchen remains closed until it can be inspected by the county health department. Officials estimated the damages at less than $500.
