Fox River Grove man charged in Elgin restaurant burglary

A Fox River Grove man arrested by Elgin police has been charged with burglarizing a restaurant last month, authorities said Tuesday.

Dylan E. Draut, 44, is accused of breaking into the Elgin BBQ Pit on Dundee Avenue around 10 p.m. Jan. 11 and taking equipment and cash, according to Officer Kristie Hilton.

The burglary was captured on video, police said, and they used it to identify a suspect. Police located Draut in Elgin on Feb. 15 and took him to Kane County jail, according to a news release posted on the Elgin Police Department's Facebook page. A judge set Draut's bail at $50,000; he would need to post 10 percent to be released while his trial is pending.

Police said the burglary was similar to others detectives are currently investigating. Anyone with information is encouraged to leave anonymous tips at (847) 695-4195 or by texting 847-411 and including "ELGINPD" in the beginning of the text.
