Believe Project: $100 to help employees affected by shutdown

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Katherine Seger of Schaumburg. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"Mamata Reddy, owner of Spoonfoolery in Evanston, is putting together a meal pickup for federal employees who have been hit hard by the government shutdown. I would like to donate the $100 to her for this amazing cause.

"People were able to stop by her kitchen on MLK day to pick up a take-home meal that they can share with their families. $100 would go a long way in purchasing supplies to feed the Cook County-area federal employees."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
