Schaumburg library offers free citizenship classes

Adults interested in becoming U.S. citizens may register for classes at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

The free citizenship classes will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays from Jan. 19 through April 27, at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library, 1550 Hassell Road.

Those who want to attend in Schaumburg or take evening classes can choose to come from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays from Jan. 28 through April 22 at the Central Library. Each participant must bring his or her green card to register at the first class.

Students will practice reading and writing in English and learn how to answer citizenship questions from the N-400 applications. The class will also discuss obstacles to becoming a U.S. citizen.
