Lake County judge retires

Lake County Associate Judge Margaret A. Marcouiller retired Friday after serving more than eight years on the bench. "She has provided exemplary service to the citizens of Lake County during her tenure on the bench. Her knowledge of the law, engaging temperament, and fair-mindedness made her an excellent jurist," Chief Judge Jay W. Ukena said. The 19th Judicial Circuit and Lake County Bar Association are in the process of selecting her replacement. Ukena said Marcouiller was admitted into the Illinois Bar in 1990, and began her legal career in the attorney general's office. After working as a staff attorney for the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts until 1993, she became a Lake County assistant state's attorney in 1994. She rose to chief deputy of the civil division before being appointed associate judge in 2010.
