Wauconda man arrested in home invasion, attempted sexual assault

A Wauconda man faces multiple criminal charges on allegations he forced his way into a former girlfriend's house and attacked her, Wauconda police said Friday in a news release.

Jacob A. Rubini, 37, has been charged with two counts of domestic battery, home invasion, attempted criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

At 1:40 a.m. Nov. 25, police were called to the 400 block of North Main Street. Police said the offender forced entry into the victim's apartment and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to escape after being beaten and ran to a neighbor's apartment for assistance, police said. The offender was stopped a short time later attempting to flee Wauconda, police said.

Rubini is being held at the Lake County jail. His next court date is set for Dec. 20.

Police asked that anyone with additional information about incidents involving Rubini call (847) 526-2421.
