Elk Grove man gets two-year prison term for Mount Prospect burglaries

An Elk Grove Village man charged with two separate Mount Prospect home burglaries last year was sentenced to two years in prison.

Matthew Cadwell, 31, of the 200 block of Washington Avenue, pleaded guilty Monday to theft in exchange for the sentence, court records show. He received credit for 473 days in custody. Cadwell was also ordered to pay $399 in fines.

Authorities say Cadwell ransacked a residence on Sept. 8, 2017, and stole cash. On Sept. 11, 2017, police responded to a report of residential burglary to find a window of a home ajar, bedrooms ransacked and cash and jewelry missing. Physical evidence from the scene identified Cadwell as the offender, according to Mount Prospect police.
