North Chicago man indicted on escape charge

A 20-year-old North Chicago man was indicted Wednesday for trying to escape from an Lake County sheriff's deputy, according to a news release Thursday from the Lake County state's attorney's office.

George D. Reynolds Jr. had been arrested on a warrant at the Park City branch court, according to Chris Covelli, spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Reynolds, of the 1000 block of Jackson Street, already had been placed in handcuffs when he tried to escape, running through the courthouse and out the building, Covelli said.

The front of the building was as far as Reynolds would get, Covelli said. The deputy captured him and took him to the county jail, where he was charged with attempted escape, Covelli said.

Reynolds' arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 21.
