Annual Gurnee Turkey Trot to celebrate 25th year

Online registration is open for the 25th annual Jon Callaghan Memorial Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run & Walk on Thanksgiving in Gurnee. Jon Callaghan was a student at O'Plaine School in Gurnee who died in 1997 after a battle with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. His family asked that the funds raised be donated to Comer Children's Memorial Hospital Cancer Research, Gurnee School District 56 and many others. To register early, go to the race's page on eventbrite.com. Day-of-race registration will open at 7 a.m. There is a $25 fee, and the first 350 paid participants will get a T-shirt. The run will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Refreshments will be provided after in the Gurnee Community Church. More information is available at gurneeturkeytrot.org.
