Didech defeats Mathias for term on Lake County Board in District 20

After early and mail in votes were counted, Adam Didech upset incumbent Sidney Mathias for Lake County Board District 20, unofficial vote totals show.
With 25 of 25 precincts and early votes counted, Didech brought in 6,641 votes compared to Mathias 6,483 votes. Didech received 51 percent to Mathias receiving 49 percent of the total votes.
Mathias, 73, a former mayor of Buffalo Grove, announced early this would have been his last term in office. Mathias was appointed to the seat in 2014 and ran unopposed for a 2-year term in 2016.
Didech, 29, a Democrat from Buffalo Grove, is a PR consultant for progressive campaigns and nonprofits.
