Kim takes lead in Lake County Treasurer's race
The race for Lake County Treasurer went to the wire Tuesday with Democratic challenger Holly Kim, a former Mundelein village trustee, upending incumbent Republican David Stolman.
With all 415 precincts reporting, unofficial results showed Kim leading Stolman 130,594 to 110,804 in a sometimes contentious race for the normally low-profile position.
Stolman, an attorney from Buffalo Grove, served on the Lake County Board from 1992 to 2014, including two years as chairman. He was seeking a second term as treasurer but said this would be his last term in office if elected.
During the campaign, Kim described Stolman as a career politician and vowed to donate $40,000 of the treasurer's salary to civic organizations. She touted her extensive community and civic involvement and experience in management and director-level positions in the private and public sector.
