Police: Three injured in early morning Elgin shooting

Elgin police are investigating an early morning shooting Sunday that left three men with nonlife-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Officers found the men - ages 56, 50, and 35 - about 4:06 a.m. while responding to a reported shooting in the 100 block of Cherry Street, just north of the city's downtown, police said.

Police later located and pursued a suspect vehicle, ultimately taking one person into custody while the other fled on foot, authorities said. That person remains on the run, police said.

Detectives from the department's Major Investigation Division are conducting the investigation and police said they will provide updates as they become available.
