Prospect Heights holding meetings on home rule vote

Two town hall meetings on a vote in Prospect Heights on whether to switch to home rule will be moderated by the local chapter of the Northwest Suburban League of Women Voters, the city said in its newsletter.

The meetings on home rule, which would give the city council more taxing powers, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Prospect Heights city hall, 8 N. Elmhurst Road, and Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Gary Morava Recreational Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road.

General topics for the meeting include why the city council approve a referendum on home rule, what changes can come with home rule, arguments for and against home rule and current budget limitations on certain projects. The meeting will include a question-and-answer session.

A notice of the Nov. 6 referendum on home rule is being sent to every residence and is available on the village website at prospect-heights.il.us.
