Pumpkins, candy and costumes add up to fall fun in Mount Prospect

The chilly temperatures that socked the suburbs this week might not be for everybody, but for those who love autumn, the crisp weather was cause for celebration this weekend at Mount Prospect's annual Fall Fest and Oktoberfest.

Sponsored by the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association, the fest kicked off with Oktoberfest Friday night, featuring German music, food and beer under a heated tent at Emerson Street and Busse Avenue.

The festivities continued Saturday with the Fall Festival, highlighted by family friendly activities like hay rides, pony rides, bounce houses, pumpkin decorating, crafts and balloons, and a "never-ending" trick-or-treat candy line.

As the skies darkened, Oktoberfest resumed late Saturday afternoon with more live music, dancing and German-themed fun.
