Streamwood bicyclist dead after being struck by semi

A 54-year Streamwood man was killed when he was struck by a semitrailer truck while he was riding his bicycle across East Lake Street Tuesday evening.

Dan John Lattimore was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a news release issued by Streamwood police Tuesday night.

Lattimore was attempting to cross E. Lake Street near its intersection with Walnut Avenue just before 7 p.m. He was struck by a 2013 Hino box truck, which was traveling east on E. Lake Street.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on Lattimore but he succumbed to his injuries, according to the news release.

No one else was injured in the crash. No citations have been issued to the driver of the truck at this time and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
