Kaneland school board seeks replacement trustee
The Kaneland school board is looking for a new board member since trustee Peter Lopatin has resigned.
His last meeting was Aug. 13.
Applications are due no later than 3 p.m. Aug. 31. The new trustee will serve through end of April.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a United States citizen, a resident of Illinois and the district for at least one year preceding the appointment and a registered voter. Registered sex offenders are not eligible. Applicants can't hold another incompatible public office, not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district, and not hold certain types of prohibited state or federal jobs.
They are expected to be familiar with the board's duties and responsibilities, which can be found at kaneland.org/board-of-ed.
The new person will be selected by Sept. 24.

Lopatin was appointed to the board in September 2013 and ran for election in April 2015.
His wife, Diane McFarlin, was an assistant principal at Kaneland High School. She retired in June.
