Lake Zurich Lions kick off Alpine Fest

The Lake Zurich Lions Club kicked off its annual Alpine Fest Friday in Lion Fred Blau Park, 81 E. Main St., Lake Zurich. The fest runs through Sunday.

Friday's events included firefighter water fights on Main Street; the water fights will continue at 11 a.m. Saturday for Firefighter Explorers and at noon for businesses. Other highlights include carnival rides and games, food, a beer garden, entertainment and more. Saturday's musical lineup features Razin' Kane with country and southern rock at 2 p.m.; Funktastic with soul-infused funk at 5 p.m. and classic rock cover band ARRA at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, it's Gina Gonzalez and the Wingmen at 2 p.m. and Semple, featuring "The Voice" finalist Keith Semple, at 5:15 p.m.

The parade steps off at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Participants will start lining up at 9:30 a.m. at Paulus Park and proceed to Lion Fred Blau Park. Spectators are invited to join the procession after the last group and be a part of the parade.

Festival hours are noon to midnight Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday. For information, visit LZLions.com.
