Mount Prospect seeks input on plan for south side

The Village of Mount Prospect is conducting an online survey as a beginning stage of updating its South Mount Prospect Subarea Plan. That will be followed by community events and open houses to solicit opinions on the update.

The survey is at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SouthMP. A printed version in English or Spanish is available at village hall, 50 S. Emerson St.; the Community Connections Center, 1711 W. Algonquin Road; or the Recplex, 420 Dempster St.

A subarea plan is a detailed plan prepared for a smaller geographic area within a community, but still sets long-term goals, policies and strategies for addressing and guiding future development for the next 10-plus years.

The plan serves as a guide to residents, property owners, and decision-makers to assist them with making choices consistent with the vision for the south side - the area south of Golf Road, west of Elmhurst Road, and north of I-90. Some items in the first plan in 2009 are no longer relevant. The update will feature new strategies and goals pertaining to housing, land use and zoning, open space and recreation, community services, transportation and economic development. The plan will also will cover the areas recently annexed on the south side.

More information on how to be involved will be in social media posts and website updates at http://www.mountprospect.org/CONNECTSouthMP.
