Beautiful Hook Lake was the backdrop Wednesday evening for the Midweek Break on the Lake at the Round Lake Beach Civic Center.
The event happens the second Wednesday of every month into mid-September.
Fifty-two students from the Grayslake Jazz Combo Workshop entertained in the gazebo. The workshop allows student musicians of all ages to learn jazz improvisation. "This gives them a practical experience actually performing in front of people," said director Bill Chapin of Grayslake.
Other musical acts featured were Better Than The Last Time, Gardiner Jazz Combo and Jubal's Call.
Comedians Michelle Krajecki, Corey Wood and Lauren Hooberman got people laughing inside the civic center.
