Lake County jail inmate charged for falsely accusing officer of sex assault

An inmate at Lake County jail was charged with felony disorderly conduct after falsely claiming a female correctional officer inappropriately touched her during a pat down, authorities said Tuesday.

Teresa M. Guzman, 36, of the 3300 block of Judy Lane in Park City, told Lake County sheriff's detectives that she was inappropriately touched in her groin area by a corrections officer in the jail's library, according to a news release issued by the Lake County sheriff's office.

Detectives reviewed video surveillance of the pat down and found the footage contradicted Guzman's allegation.

When the detectives reinterviewed Guzman, she admitted to lying about her allegation. Guzman said she didn't care for the corrections officers, which prompted her to make the false allegation.

On July 6, Guzman was charged with felony disorderly conduct for making a false report to police. Her bond on the new charge was set at $100,000. Guzman was an inmate at Lake County jail for residential burglary charges.
