Felony charges for teens accused of stealing loose change from cars at Fox Valley Mall

Two teenagers from Aurora accused of stealing loose change from vehicles at the Fox Valley Mall last week have been charged with felony burglary.

Aurora police officers had stopped at the mall Thursday when a woman told them she saw two people pulling on vehicle door handles in the parking lot outside J.C. Penny, police said.

Officers in marked patrol vehicles took up covert positions while officers in an unmarked vehicle watched the suspects, police said. They reported seeing one of the suspects enter three vehicles while the other acted as a lookout, police said.

After watching the suspects enter the third vehicle, the officers took the teenagers into custody, police said.

The 13-year-old and 15-year-old boys were charged with felony burglary. The 15-year-old also was charged with obstructing police after running from the officers to evade arrest, police said.
