Aurora man faces reckless driving charges after March crash

An Aurora man faces a felony reckless driving charge after police say he caused a crash in March that left both him and another man critically injured, officials said.

Jose Reynaldo Gonzales, 21, of the 1700 block of Heather Drive, is charged with felony aggravated reckless driving and a misdemeanor speeding charge, according to a news release on the Aurora Police Department's Facebook page.

Gonzales is accused of driving at least 35 mph over the speed limit on Bilter Road in Aurora on March 13 when he crossed the centerline and hit an oncoming car, the release said.

Both Gonzales and the other driver, a 48-year-old man, were critically injured and had to be removed from their vehicles by first responders, police said.

An investigation found Gonzales hadn't been intoxicated when the crash occurred, officials said.
