Naperville Ribfest closed early due to weather, fireworks rescheduled

Naperville Ribfest shut down early Wednesday after festivalgoers had to evacuate twice during Fourth of July celebrations.

The popular festival at Knoch Park first shut down about 5:40 p.m. because of lightning only to be reopened at 7:30 p.m. Just over an hour later, organizers called for a second evacuation because of an approaching storm.

"Naperville safety officials have determined the park must be closed due to threatening weather conditions," organizers said in a Facebook post.

The fireworks display was rescheduled for 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
