Buffalo Grove holding inaugural 'First Responders Day'

The Buffalo Grove Police Department is joining with the fire department, Northwest Central Dispatch and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to celebrate "First Responders Day" from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, at the farmers market, Mike Rylko Park, 951 McHenry Road.

Officials will provide information about public safety, while allowing children to explore different emergency response vehicles. "Many children can become apprehensive around police and firefighters, and this gives us the opportunity to engage with them in a friendly, relaxed environment," Buffalo Grove Community Relations Officer Matthew Mills said in a news release. "We have many safety and security programs available to Buffalo Grove residents that people are unaware of, and events like this help us to promote those programs."
