Libertyville Days opens with large crowds

The annual Libertyville Days festival opened Thursday with large crowds eating food from local restaurant vendors, riding crazy carnival rides and watching the Miss Libertyville pageants.

The first night also featured the musical acts of Ivy Ford and later the Modern Day Romeos on the Main Stage.

"The whole purpose is to give back to the community and also it is our annual fundraiser for the Libertyville Civic Center," said Dan Love, a member of the festival board. "Every year we have a lot of people show up. It is very great family event."

This year's theme is "Libertyville, A Beautiful Place in the Country!" that is a tribute to the community's farm and country past.

The festival continues through Sunday.
