Electronics recycling event June 16 in Palatine Township

Palatine Township and the Palatine Lions Club are co-hosting an electronics recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 16, in the parking lot of Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.

Businesses and individuals can drop off a variety of items free, including computers, cellphones, power cords and cables, computer keyboards and mouses, printers, CD, DVD and VCR players, DVRs, small electrical appliances, flat screen monitors and flat screen TVs, as well as car, marine, power tool and residential-use batteries. There is a charge of $25 per microwave to recycle.

Items that will not be accepted include no tube TVs, CRT's, dehumidifiers, light bulbs, white goods like washing machines or dryers, paint or hazardous materials.

Drivers must enter from westbound Illinois Street just east of Quentin Road. Vehicles dropping off items are to stay to the right side of Illinois Street, so as not to obstruct general traffic before entering the township parking lot. For more information, call Palatine Township at (847) 358-6700.
