Carol Stream man charged with October Naperville gas station robbery

A Carol Stream man was one of three people who robbed a Naperville gas station in October 2017, authorities said Tuesday.

Robert Hill, 19, of the 700 block of Bluff Street in Carol Stream, was charged with one count of felony armed robbery and one count of felony aggravated robbery.

On October 15, 2017, Hill and two other people entered a Speedway gas station in Naperville wearing masks, according to a news release issued by the DuPage County state's attorney's office. One of the men struck the clerk on the back of the head. The three men took money from the register as well as the victim's iPhone before locking him in the back office and fleeing.

"(They) pistol whipped an innocent man who was just trying to make an honest living," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert B. Berlin said in a statement. "Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt during this traumatic event."

Hill appeared in bond court Tuesday. His bond was set at $500,000. He will be back in court on June 25.
