Elmhurst cops looking for man who approached 12-year-old girl

A 12-year-old girl told Elmhurst police she was approached by a man driving a black Toyota Sienna minivan around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday outside Churchville Middle School, 155 Victory Parkway.

Police said they searched the area but did not find the vehicle, although school surveillance video captured an image of it in front of one of the school doors.

The girl said she was outside the school shortly after dismissal when the man, believed to be a Latino in his late 30s with short dark hair and a mustache, asked if she needed a ride. When the man started to get out of his vehicle, which was parked in the school pickup lane, the girl ran away.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 530-3050.
