New trustee for Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District

A retired manufacturing executive has been appointed as a trustee on the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District board.

Matthew J. Hower, who has about 30 years experience as an executive and an extensive public service background, was sworn in as the newest trustee at a meeting Monday night. His appointment by Barrington Township Supervisor Amy Nykaza fills a vacancy left by the retirement of former Trustee Paul Heinze in April.

Hower is founder and principal of a private holding company that identifies early-stage firms for investment. He and his wife, Lisa, moved from Palatine to Barrington Hills in 2017. They have four adult sons.

Established in 1940, the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District serves portions of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington and Inverness along with sections of unincorporated Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.
