Sailor from Plainfield missing in Washington State wilderness

A Navy sailor from Plainfield who graduated from Oswego East High School is missing after he went hiking in Washington State, ABC 7 is reporting.

Jeremiah Adams, 24, has not been seen since he went hiking in Olympic National Forest last Friday morning, the Clallam County Sheriff's Office said. Adams is stationed on the USS Nimitz in Bremerton, Washington.

Adams left for a day hike in the Buckhorn Wilderness in the national forest. He did not meet with friends for a hike planned for Saturday, authorities said.

Fellow sailors searching for Adams found his silver 2013 Ford Fiesta at a trailhead in the park Monday night, authorities said.

The sheriff's office, two search and rescue teams, and sailors were continuing to search for Adams on Thursday.

Anyone with information on Adams' whereabouts is asked to call the Clallam County Sheriff's Office at (360) 417-2459.
