Police: Man driving a Camaro impersonated cop, tried to pull over driver

A 56-year-old Aurora man faces a charge of impersonating a police officer after attempting to pull over another motorist last month in Warrenville, police announced Thursday.

Jeffrey M. Spiewak, of the 3000 block of Anton Drive, has been charged with false personation of a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

Spiewak was taken into custody Wednesday, more than two weeks after Warrenville police received a 911 call about a man in a newer model yellow Camaro who tried to pull over the caller in the area of Butterfield and Winfield roads. It happened about 2 p.m. on April 21.

The victim later told police the driver of the Camaro displayed a gold-colored badge and pointed with his hand at the victim to pull over. After a short period of time, the two vehicles went in separate directions, police said.

During their investigation, police were able to identify Spiewak as the driver of the Camaro.

Spiewak was taken to the DuPage County jail after his arrest. Bail was set at $20,000.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case - or who may have been a victim of a similar incident - to contact Detective Sgt. Ken Dawson at (630) 393-2131.
