Arlington Heights man involved in deadly collision on I-290

An Arlington Heights man driving an RV crashed into a car stopped along Interstate 290 near West suburban Hillside on Sunday, killing one of the occupants, police say.

The 35-year-old man was driving a 1993 Chevrolet motor home on I-290 at Mannheim Road about 3:50 p.m. when it struck a green 2005 Nissan sedan parked on the right shoulder of the road, according to an Illinois State Police news release Tuesday.

Two people were inside the Nissan at the time of the collision, trooper Woodrow Montgomery said. First responders took both to Loyola University Medical Center.

Eduardo Moreno, 34, of Berwyn, who was in the driver's seat, died while at the hospital. A 42-year-old woman also in the car has serious injuries, police said.

The Arlington Heights man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police are investigating whether drugs were a contributing factor in the crash. No one has been charged.
