New principal named at Gemini Junior High School

The East Maine School District 63 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Lewis Roberts as Gemini Junior High's new principal. Currently principal at Mark Twain Elementary School, Roberts will replace the retiring René Carranza. Gemini, located in Niles, serves more than 750 7th-8th grade students living in Des Plaines, Glenview, Niles, Morton Grove and Park Ridge.

In 2019, Gemini will expand to serve 6th graders. This July, the district will break ground on an addition to accommodate more than 1,000 students. Superintendent Scott Clay said Roberts' successful experiences in elementary, middle and high school will help with the transition.
