Fundraisers to honor Stevenson student

Stevenson High School students have organized two fundraisers in honor of senior Jack Greeley, who has cystinosis, a rare genetic disease.

In June, proceeds from the Summer Slam Baseball Tournament will be donated to the Cystinosis Research Network in Greeley's honor. And on Sunday, 25 percent of the sales proceeds at Culver's, 405 Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire, will be donated to the tournament.

Cystinosis affects an estimated 2,000 people worldwide. The disease attacks various organs through the accumulation of an amino acid called cystine. It can cause kidney failure and other health issues.
