Wheaton man accused of abusing teen wants to move to Florida

A DuPage County judge will rule Friday whether a Wheaton man charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a minor can move to Florida as his case progresses.

Attorneys for Gregory Dacanay have filed a motion stating Dacanay, 42, of the 300 block of Mendelsohn Court, recently got a job as an associate sales consultant for a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary that would require him to live in Florida. If Judge Liam Brennan approves the request, Dacanay would live with his mother.

Dacanay currently is free on $100,000 bond and prohibited from having contact with any children younger than 17, including his two young children.

Glen Ellyn police say the alleged abuse of the teenage boy occurred on April 14 at Health Track Sports Wellness, 875 Roosevelt Road. Dacanay was an employee at the time of the alleged assault.

An investigation by the DuPage Children's Center led to his arrest.

Dacanay is next due in court at 9 a.m. Friday.
