Pair accused of stealing cellphones from Carol Stream FedEx facility

Two people accused of stealing packages from a Carol Stream FedEx facility have been charged with theft.

Mohamoud Mohamed, 34, of the 1700 block of McCormick Lane in Hanover Park, and Stephanie Horist, 25, of 19 W100 block of Adele Avenue near Lombard, were released on recognizance bonds - $20,000 for Mohamed and $30,000 for Horist.

DuPage County prosecutors say Mohamoud and Horist stole 37 cellphones Wednesday from the FedEx facility at 205 Della Court.

"Not only did their alleged actions interfere with commerce, their actions also caused a hardship for not only FedEx but for all the intended recipients of the cellphones as well," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement.

Mohamoud's next court appearance is scheduled for May 14, in front of Judge Robert Miller. Horist's next court appearance is scheduled for May 14, in front of Judge Brian Telander.
