Drivers beware: Traffic on I-90 down to one lane this weekend

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Interstate 90 between Lee Street and Interstate 294 in Des Plaines beginning Friday.

The temporary lane closures are necessary for workers to repair pavement and allow new concrete to cure, officials said.

Weather permitting, weekend lane closures will be scheduled to begin overnight Friday and continue as needed into Monday. Traffic will be reduced to a single westbound lane by midnight Friday, April 20. At 6 a.m. Saturday, one lane will reopen and traffic will be limited to two lanes for the rest of the weekend.

All open road tolling lanes at the Devon Toll Plaza will be closed and traffic will be routed through the cash toll plaza. I-PASS is accepted in all lanes at the cash plaza.

In addition, one lane on the ramp carrying traffic from northbound I-294 to westbound I-90 will close at midnight on Friday. The lane will remain closed until repairs are complete.

Similar closures will be scheduled for the weekend of April 27 to complete warranty pavement repair work.
