Celebrating Ukranian culture at Palatine library

The Palatine Public Library District will highlight and celebrate Ukrainian culture and traditions in May with several programs and a variety of collectibles on display.

At the main library, 700 N. North Court in Palatine, visitors will find Ukrainian items exhibited in display cases on the second floor, including decorative eggs called pysankas, traditional attire, historic items and religious artifacts.

Scheduled children's events include making a Ukrainian Easter Egg Bird, from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, and Ukrainian Storytime, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 9. For adults, there is Folk Music of Ukraine, 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, and Ukrainian Cooking, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23.
