Palatine students have fun with science at STEAM Family Fun Night

Hoping to boost young students' interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM), Palatine Township Elementary District 15 hosted its inaugural STEAM Family Fun Night on Tuesday.

About 3,000 children from six elementary schools and their families were invited to the event at Walter R. Sundling Junior High in Palatine.

Those who attended encountered interactive exhibits and activities aimed at boosting their awareness in STEAM.

Participants included Northern Illinois University, Girls Who Code, the Palatine Fire Department, Harper College, Fremd and Palatine high schools, defense contractor Northrup Grumman and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
