Learn history of Schaumburg's historic Schweikher House

The Schweikher House Preservation Trust invites the public to attend its next "Conversations in the Studio" - a monthly lecture series that focuses on the trust's mission to connect Schaumburg residents with the historic Schweikher House through topics covering art, architecture and science.

The second conversation in the series will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the studio, 645 Meacham Road in Schaumburg. The event will feature Jane Rozek, who will discuss Paul Schweikher, how he arrived in Schaumburg Township, his time spent in Schaumburg, as well as his lasting legacy. Rozek is the local history librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library where she also writes for their popular blog, "Local History."

Tickets are $5 and RSVP is required. The event will run approximately one hour and will include a question-and-answer period. Contact Todd Wenger at (847) 923-3866 or Kim Bauer at events@schweikherhouse.org for more information and to RSVP.

The Schweikher House was constructed in 1938 as Modernist architect Paul Schweikher's home and studio. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the top 150 architectural sites in Illinois.
